Instant Pot Sofrito Refried Beans

Refried Beans are easily one of the most classic and go-to sides within that joy that is Mexican cuisine. I like them in my burritos, tacos, enchiladas, and mixed in with some yellow rice. Basically, you you name it and I love when they are companions. I already have a more traditional recipe but here I take the flavor to new heights using Better Than Bouillon Sofrito Base from the Culinary Collection. Sofrito is a blend of roasted tomatoes, onion, garlic and cilantro and it is pure bliss when give the broth treatment. I also give you choices on how thick or thin you like your refried beans so you're in full control of their texture and consistency!

Thank you for sharing this awesome recipe. After pressure cooking for an hour and waiting for the natural release, the pastrami came out over cooked and brown in the middle instead of the red centre that you got. Do I need to reduce the time in the pressure cooker?
THANK YOU!! My neighbor was gracious enough to give me hers. It's basically brand new, but missing a few things, like instructions. I wanted to make a roast, so, naturally, I tried to use the "Roast" button, right? The only cue that something was wrong was "Lid." TWO HOURS later, I'm suffering from self-induced baldness, and my son has decided Mother's Day is officially OVER! I finally just tried a different button {yes, I know, I'm a bit slow in the head, okay?}. Fifty billion videos later {Plus a dozen warnings from my son that I was gonna blow up the house, if I didn't calm down and figure out how to use it properly. Aaaarrgghh! I know! I"m not stupid! Well, sort of, but not stupid enough to be careless with a pressure cooker}, I, finally, landed on your wonderful advice. I'm going to bed. It's crackers and cheese for dinner at 1 am, or nothing, and roast for breakfast. Crisis averted, thank you so much for preventing me from strangling my son on Mother's Day. I doubt any judge would have forgiven me.
If you can't find Fideo, use bucatini pasta broken into small pieces, hollow pasta like Fideo. Fry bucatini pieces first.

I grew up on a pastina porridge, but it’s strictly butter and American cheese. I’ve called it breakfast mac and cheese when discussing it with others. But, I know others who would be more open to other flavors in their pastina, so I’m definitely going to share this.
I just finished making this. Came out DELICIOUS! Terrific flavor! And I didn't even blend up the beans, nor did I add the cheese (to make it vegan). Luckily, it was easy to find the Sofrito Better Than Bouillon in my Stop & Shop on Staten Island. Also, I used 4 jalapeno peppers that I froze at the end of last summer instead of the can of hot peppers. Definitely a repeater!

Okay I tried this today and the flavor is on point, i used lard as it also gives a great flavor to refried beans. I used ½ cup less broth as i like a more creamy less watery refried bean. Having said that, the only thing I would do differently is probably pressure for maybe 45 min as the beans were still a bit hard. (curious about how the bean button would do as one commenter noted) I want my beans to be done. Perfect for dipping chips in too! Thanks for the great recipie. One less thing I have to buy in a can.

Why didn’t you use the bean button?? That is what i normally do when cooking beans from dried.
I would put the excess sauce over noodles and make something like a sesame noodle salad. Add some of the leftover chicken and oh my!

There are a couple models of Magiccos brand 14 cup food processors on Amazon that cut french fries in no time flat. I bought the one that has built-in blade storage in the base. I love it! I cut fries, boil them, and freeze them to use later.
I don't eat pork but I bought a vegan ham flavoring on Amazon . That's what I use when I make any beans in my instant pot 👍 A quick tip : I use an immersion blender instead of a potato masher...use with caution, it will puree up fast if you're not careful 😁

Local stores carry Goya sofrito cooking base. Would it work similarly? BTB would have to be ordered online and shipped to small town.
They should be able to ship to a small town, I live in a small town and order online regularly 😊
@@kathyharmon2093 I only pay for Walmart Plus, not Amazon Prime. I avoid trendy or ethnic recipes that would require paying to ship the ingredients, as a rule. I'll try this with the Goya. Should work okay.

The Insta Pot is the only way I make beans now. I don't have the sofrito BTB, but I do have the chipotle, and this recipe sounds perfect. I see a big ol' pot of beans in the near future!
